Field Laboratory Base -
The Ecological Research Station is a suitable environment for the visiting field
researcher travelling with one’s own equipment. Access to electricity, drinking
water, freezer/refrigerator, lab-bench space, safe storage of supplies, etc.,
computer terminal, fax, phone, internet and e-mail are available on site,
library and work tools are also available.
Main House and Pagoda- The main house and student group Pagoda can accommodate up to 15
visitors by arrangement. Stove, refrigerator/freezer, bathroom/shower are our
standard features. Each building affords spectacular views of the surrounding
landscape and sea. The main house also contains tel/fax, computer terminal,
internet and e-mail facilities.
Life at
Sea - Hokule’a (55’ sailing catamaran) is moored in front of the
Research Station in a private bay teeming with marine life. The vessel provides
comfortable accommodation for up to ten individuals in bunks nested in either
hull in addition to generous room on deck. Hokule’a is also available for day
trips or long-term charter for research and ecotour purposes (by arrangement).
Getting Around - While the majority of
Carriacou is accessible by foot, transports and auto rentals are available for
visitors when needed. How to get to Carriacou - Trans Island Air from/to
Barbados daily (1h.). Airlines of Carriacou from/to Grenada daily (20 mn).
Osprey-high speed sea ferry from/to Grenada daily.
Original schooner type sea transport for goods and passengers most days (4 hs).
